Management Committee

As part of the SEND /SEMH Review, The Pupil Referral Unit and The Connected Hub have formed a merged Management Committee in March 2018.

Brighton and Hove Local Authority have established a Management Committee to run the Pupil Referral Unit and have made provision for the constitution (including composition) and procedures of the Committee and have additionally delegated specific powers to the Committee.

The Management Committee has a strategic role setting out and monitoring the aims and objectives of the PRU to ensure children are safe, have their needs met and receive a good standard of education.

The Management Committee meet six times a year and in between carry out monitoring activities through school visits.

Mike Newman Vice Chair/Full Member – Responsibility for examination and curriculum.  I have been Deputy Head teacher working at Patcham High School. I have been a teacher for 25 Years working in a range of schools in London and Brighton. I have been working with the excellent staff at The Connected Hub for the past 4 years and am committed to the inclusion and successful outcomes for its’ students to progress into further education, work and training.

Amanda Meier-LA/Full Member – Responsibility for Equality, Diversity & Community, Special Educational Needs. I have worked in SEND in mainstream school for over 20 years, the last 15 of those within Brighton and Hove. I am current the Executive SENCO at Hove Park School and Blatchington Mill.

 

 

 

Dion Page-Hamilton- LA Member – Responsibility for Safeguarding, Child Protection, Looked After Children and E-Safety

 

 

 

Chris Pearson- Community Member – Responsibility for Pupil Premium and Finance

 

 

 

Sarah Walker- Parent Member – Responsibility for Student Voice

 

 

 

 

Linda Hayes Community Member – Responsibility for Student Voice

 

 

 

Fiona Martin- Parent Member – Responsibility for Human Resources. I am an employment law solicitor and set up my law firm in 2004.  We run a community law firm and carry out free legal work as part of our contribution to ensure access to justice.

 

 

Tracey Williams – Community Member – Responsibility for Behaviour, Anti-bullying. I am an Assistant Principal Educational Psychologist in the Brighton and Hove Inclusion Support Service (BHISS) and have over 25 years experience in education firstly as a Primary School Teacher, then a Secondary School Teacher before training to be an Educational Psychologist. I lead for the BHISS on improving outcomes for children and young people who present with social, emotional and mental health needs. I was also the EP linked to The Connected Hub a few years ago and believe strongly in helping children and young people achieve, build self-esteem and confidence to successfully transition from school to college or work placement.

 

Jacqueline O’Toole-Quinn- Community Member –  Responsibility for Teaching and Learning, I have been a teacher for 32 years (up to my retirement) and for nearly 30 years of those I held a management position – firstly as Head of History and  then as Head of Humanities.  I am now the Chair of the Licensing Committee for Brighton and Hove City Council.
