Dear Parents/Carers and Students

I hope that you are all managing to stay safe and well and that you continue to keep to the Government rules about staying in and saving lives.

Life has become very different, very quickly. It’s no surprise that many of us are really struggling with such a huge adjustment. I hope that you’re all now beginning to find a way to bring some sort of routine into your days and that you’re finding new ways to stay connected with your friends and other members of your family.

Some of you have been in touch and are asking about how you will manage to prepare for your college places next year and some of you have even been in touch to ask for work to complete!

We don’t yet have the full details on how the GCSEs grades will be judged. We think it will be a mixture of us providing teacher assessment grades, taken from your work over several weeks, combined with the results from your recent mock exams. I will update you further once the final guidance on this, has been released from the exam boards.

In the meantime, if you would like to do some preparation (parents/carers and students together), I can recommend the Barclays Bank Life Skills website:

https://barclayslifeskills.com/parents/

This contains tools and tips for parents and includes videos to watch, getting support during the Covid-19 outbreak, advice on money skills, job applications and interviews, advice to support your child in thinking about their future career and how to become digitally ‘savvy,’ plus much more. There is also a similar page for students themselves:

https://barclayslifeskills.com/young-people/

This has links to similar kinds of information and tools but is much more geared to students – to help to think about their future and the skills that they will need. There’s even a way to get work experience via a ‘virtual work experience’ link.

I hope you find this information helpful. I will try and post links to other useful avenues of information and support throughout the summer term.

If you are struggling or worried about anything related to school, safeguarding or maintaining positive health and well-being, do email us or call a member of the team. We are here for you and ready to help.

Finally please read the Letter to parents and carers from the police

Letter to Parents and Carers from the Police

In the meantime, the Connected Hub team send our best wishes to you all and hope that you continue to remain safe and well.

Amanda (Head of School)
