Dear Parents/Carers and Students

We hope that you are all managing to stay safe and well and that you’re adhering to the Government’s rules about staying home and only going out if you need to visit the pharmacy, buy food items from the supermarket or, take some exercise once a day.

We share your frustrations about these restrictions on our lives. We really hope that you’re managing to cope with the restrictions and that you’re slowly coming to terms with how different life is going to be in the coming weeks and months.

We want to help you as best we can (from a distance). So, key workers have been assigned to keep in contact with you. They will call you at least weekly, sometimes more. This is just to check in with you, see how you are doing and to find out if you or a member of your family needs help with anything. Its really important that you continue to follow the rules about going out. This will save lives. However, we also appreciate that you might be finding this really difficult. Call us if you need to talk things through; we’re here for you.

Some of you are entitled to Free School Meals and you’ve been asking about how you can continue to access this. We are in contact with the Local Authority daily and we’re trying to get information on how this will be managed. At the moment, the Local Authority is looking into sending out Hampers (boxes of food) to families who qualify for this. They are also looking into whether or not a weekly voucher would be better. We’re really sorry that this is taking so long, but we will get something sorted for you soon and will be in touch as soon as we can, with further information on this. If your family is really struggling, please speak to your school key worker and we’ll do our best to sort something out for you sooner.

Meanwhile, stay at home, stay safe, wash your hands regularly and look after yourselves.
