Drama GCSE

This exciting new course has been designed to be a practical, engaging and creative experience of Drama. It provides opportunities to understand and create performances in which meanings are communicated to an audience through carefully controlled artistic decisions.

Do you like acting? Do you like going to the theatre? Do you like thinking about the world and how to make it a better place? Do you like discussing ideas and people?

If so, this is the course for you.

The exam is a very student-friendly one – lots of practical work and all of the written work is based on what we do and see together.

You will create a devised performance with the other students in the group. You have to create a portfolio that records the play as it grows. This can be written or drawn or even spoken.

You will perform two pieces from a play that we will do together. You can do this on your own or with other members of the group.

In the exam, you will write about a play that we will work on together (Blood Brothers by Willy Russell.) You will also write about a play that we will go and see together.

This is a very active course that will be lots of fun – and part of the fun will come from being serious together. If you are not quite sure and feel a little scared, remember, it is also a really good way of building up your confidence.
